Don't own an iPod? Don't know an RSS feed from a blog? Read below to get
in the know and get started.
WHAT
IS PODCASTING?
Podcasting combines the terms iPod and broadcasting to describe
audio content delivered through the Internet that can be downloaded and
played on your desktop or transferred to a portable MP3 player (like an
iPod) so you can listen offline.
You don't need a portable MP3 player or an iPod to listen to podcasts.
You can download them to your computer and listen to them using free software
such as iTunes.
To receive podcasts on your computer, download free podcasting software
(see list, below) and then subscribe to a feed (
). Once you subscribe, your computer will notify you or automatically download
MP3 audio files every time a new podcast episode is available.

WHAT
IS RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, a way of keeping up with
the latest content from your favorite websites, usually in the form of
a headline, a short summary, and a link to the full-text article or feature.
By using free newsreader software (see list, below) and subscribing to
a feed (
), you can quickly scan hundreds of the latest headlines from websites
you've selected, instead of visiting those websites individually.
